Akon would like the world to believe he is younger that what he really is because a 35 year-old-rapper would sell less. Despite having a birth certificate from an hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, Akon says he doesn’t know his real age. Akon says he doesn't know how old he is, and he likes it. "All it's going to do is depress me," Akon said in a recent interview. "I don't want to know I'm getting older. Then I'll start to think about getting checkups and insurance. I don't want that."Numerous reports have put his age somewhere between 25 to 35 years old. In 2006 he said he was 25. Now he claims he’s 31 because he says his birth certificate says he was born on April 16, 1977. According to The Smoking Gun, "By all indications, he was born April 16, 1973. He is like the Catherine Zeta Jones of rappers, no one can pinpoint their ages. The AP writes:

Some have accused Akon of trying to push back his age. But the singer, who was born in the United States but spent his early life in Senegal, where his family is from, says he never knew it. Akon says when people ask, he just gives him a figure that comes to mind. Right now, he says he feels 21.

"In Africa ... age is not important over there. They don't care. People only focus on it here (America) and in Europe," said Akon.

At what age do you have to be to be half retarded? That’s how old Akon should say he is. He has a birth certificate. It’s not like his mother gave birth to him while running from a lion in Senegal. In Akon's defense, he does not have a great track record with ages. One of Oprah's ex-lovers (I know, I was equally surprised they existed), is shopping around a tell-all book intitled ‘The Wizard of O: My Life With Oprah, her ex-lover,’ about the chat queen that features a startling revelation: Oprah Winfrey hit the crack pipe as recently as 1984. Landis Randolph Cook has written a book outlining his days as the boyfriend of Oprah. In the book he details how Oprah showed him how to freebase cocaine, and wild nights of sex. Cook also claims that Oprah “was still under the influence while doing her show.” Cook who has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer supposedly only has two years to live. Cook, 51, also claims the media mogul taught him how to smoke crack cocaine, and the two "freebased" the drug regularly during their passionate six-month romance and the talk show titan "was still under the influence while doing her show."
