Raul Sayrols, the publisher of Playboy Mexico should avoid Mexico like the fucking plague. Maria Florencia Onori portrayed what appeared to be the Virgin Mary on the December cover of the Mexican edition of Playboy, which has sparked outrage. She is standing in front of stands for stained-glass window with the cover line, "We love you, Mary" in Spanish. What was Playboy Mexico thinking? Mexico is like 99.9% Catholic and the Virgin Mary is more revere than Jesus in the country. So the people at Playboy Mexico should have known this wasn't going to ho over well. Fucking idiots, and now the Mexican drug cartel bosses (all self-identified Catholics) are probably aching for Raul Sayrols. Some of these cartel guys believe one "good deed" will result in forgiveness of their years of drug selling, raping and murdering innocent people. I am glad I am not Raul Sayrols... LOL. La Virgen de Guadalupe is practically more revered than Jesus himself in the ultra-Catholic country of Mexico, so the Playboy Mexico editors clearly thought it’d be a good idea to capitalize on her popularity with their most recent issue, which features a nude woman swathed in a mantilla with the caption “TE ADORAMOS, MARIA” (translation: we love you, Maria). The model’s name is Maria Florencia Onori, but the pun won’t be lost to millions of devout Mexican Catholics who are bound to find the cover offensive.

Surprise of all surprises: it’s not a good idea to borrow from the image of the only woman without sin on the cover of a nudie mag.

In a statement, Chicago-based Playboy Enterprises Inc said the Mexican edition of the magazine is published by a licensee, and the company did not approve or endorse the cover.

"While Playboy Mexico never meant for the cover or images to offend anyone, we recognize that it has created offense, and we as well as Playboy Mexico offer our sincerest apologies," the statement said.

Raul Sayrols, publisher of Playboy Mexico, said in a statement, "The image is not and never was intended to portray the Virgin of Guadalupe or any other religious figure. The intent was to reflect a Renaissance-like mood on the cover."

The December edition was published just days before the Mexican festival honoring Mary known as the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe. The Magazine was published December 1st on the lead up to the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a Holy day that is the largest Catholic Festival and cause of pilgrimage even with even greater numbers than the Hajj.

According to the reports, eighty thousand copies have already been sold. But 100,000 magazine have already been printed of the controversial issue.
